(Kaylee McGhee, Liberty Headlines) President Donald Trump defended his family’s charity and attacked the New York attorney general’s office for suing the organization one day after it agreed to dissolve.

The attorney general’s office alleged that the Trump Foundation violated campaign-finance laws during the president’s 2016 campaign, abused its tax-exempt status and served as a tool for Trump’s personal expenses.

On Twitter Wednesday, Trump denied the accusations and criticized the attorney general’s office for its dishonest, misleading claims.

Trump went on to attack disgraced former New York AG Eric Schneiderman, who resigned in a sex/abuse scandal earlier this year. Incoming AG Letitia James has likewise pledged to make investigating Trump’s finances one of her top priorities.

President Trump and his three eldest children, Eric, Donald Jr., and Ivanka, tried to dismiss Schneiderman’s suit by claiming political bias, but the judge ruled against them and allowed the case to continue.

The attorney general’s lawsuit accuses the foundation of self-dealing, pointing to a particular instance when the nonprofit used $100,000 from its funds to settle legal claims against Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.

The Foundation acknowledged some of the attorney general’s complaints and agreed to dissolve under judicial supervision. Trump, however, accused the lawsuit of being politically motivated.

“I wanted to close the Foundation so as not to be in conflict with politics. Shady Eric was head of New Yorkers for Clinton, and refused to even look at the corrupt Clinton Foundation” Trump tweeted.
