TRUMP: I’m Saving the Dems’ ‘Imploding’ Obamacare System

(Daily Caller News Foundation) President Donald Trump urged Democrats to work with him to fix the “imploding” Obamacare system in a tweet early Friday morning.

“The Democrats ObamaCare is imploding,” Trump wrote. “Massive subsidy payments to their pet insurance companies has stopped. Dems should call me to fix.”

The president signed an executive order Thursday that eliminated key government subsidy payments that would go to help low-income citizens pay for health care plans, according to CNN. The president also signed an order that could open up corporate plans to individuals and small businesses, a move that Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky supported.

“Why don’t we let the little individual — the plumber, the baker, the accountant, the small doctor or attorney — let them join together in associations and so they can have the same buying power that the big corporations have,” Paul told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “The Lead.”

Democratic senators were unanimous in the swift rejection of the measure.

“After failing to convince the American people and the majority of Senators, Trump is now forcing Trumpcare via executive order. It’s sabotage,” New Jersey Democratic Sen. Cory Booker wrote on Twitter.

Former vice presidential candidate and Democratic Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine also voiced disapproval.

“President Trump’s healthcare executive order may seem a little complicated so let me break it down: it’s sabotage,” Kaine wrote on Twitter Thursday.

The president has attempted to pass some replacement of the Affordable Care Act through the Senate multiple times, but the measures were unable to gain full Republican support. Sens. John McCain, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski voted against the most recent bill earlier this summer.
