‘The new Democrats are radical socialists who want to model America’s economy after Venezuela…’
(Kaylee McGhee, Liberty Headlines) President Donald Trump ripped into the Democratic Party’s “Medicare for All” plan, calling it a “dishonest” threat to America’s seniors.
In an op-ed for USA Today, Trump wrote that “Medicare for All” would “establish a government-run, single-payer health care system” that would eliminate all choice and cost the government more than $32.6 trillion during its first 10 years.
Trump said Democrats have already hurt America’s senior citizens by slashing Medicare benefits to pay for Obamacare.
“The Democrats’ plan means that after a life of hard work and sacrifice, seniors would no longer be able to depend on the benefits they were promised,” Trump wrote. “In practice, the Democratic Party’s so-called Medicare for All would really be Medicare for None. Under the Democrats’ plan, today’s Medicare would be forced to die.”
Trump said that allowing Democrats to have their way with health care would mean handing the reins over to unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats.
Senior citizens would be left with no control over their own health care decisions.
Their plan would outlaw private health plans and eliminate many plans seniors currently use.
“Americans might think that such an extreme, anti-senior, anti-choice and anti-consumer proposal for government-run health care would find little support among Democrats in Congress,” Trump wrote. “Unfortunately, they would be wrong.”
Trump said 123 Democrats in the House and 15 Democrats in the Senate have already committed to “Medicare for All.”
A few gubernatorial candidates are also campaigning in support of it, he said.
Trump warned against the Democratic Party’s radical shift to the left.
The “centrist Democratic Party is dead,” he wrote. “The new Democrats are radical socialists who want to model America’s economy after Venezuela.”
“I am committed to resolutely defending Medicare and Social Security from the radical socialist plans of the Democrats,” Trump said. “For the sake of our country, our prosperity, our seniors and all Americans—this is a fight we must win.”
