Texas Lt. Gov.: Pelosi ‘Nothing More Than a Slaveholder’ for Denying Border Crisis

‘I will take them out and I will give them a half a gallon of water and I’m going to see how long they last. And they are going to realize it’s a crisis…’

(Kaylee McGhee, Liberty Headlines) Texas’s lieutenant governor said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is “almost treasonous” for suggesting Americans aren’t concerned about the ongoing immigration crisis.

Republican Dan Patrick said Pelosi is “selling out this country” by denying that there’s a crisis at the southern border.

“I view her as nothing more than a slaveholder because she’s in charge of not helping these people, these poor young girls,” Patrick told Fox News, referring to the sex-trafficking and humanitarian issues that accompany illegal immigration.

“These poor young girls, they are trapped in cantinas and bars all over this country,” Patrick said. “Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are responsible for this.”

Patrick’s comments were in response to Pelosi’s recent suggestion that immigrants, whether they come to the U.S. legally or illegally, “make America more American.”

“Everything is at stake in terms of who we are as a people,” Pelosi told CNN when asked why the 2020 election will be important for the Democratic Party.

“Every president, like Ronald Reagan, in terms of modern times, has recognized the value of newcomers to America, that we’re a nation of immigrants, unless you’re blessed to be born as a Native American.”

“We’re all immigrants, and so the spirit of Ronald Reagan, George Herbert Walker Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama—all of those presidents recognized that newcomers bring vitality and courage and optimism and determination to make the future better,” Pelosi continued.

“Those are American traits. These newcomers make America more American. This president decided to use it as a campaign tactic, and there are some financial insecurities that people have, he blamed it on trade, he blamed it on immigrants, and—and it found a market. But I don’t think that’s where the American people are.”

Patrick said Democrats like Pelosi, who deny an immigration crisis, should head down to the southern border and see it for themselves.

“I will give any Democrat $10,000 to their favorite charity—come down to Texas and go out in no-man’s-land with me where these cartels drop off these pregnant women, these children, these old people—and they die,” he said.

“Come with me, Democrat, come from Rhode Island or whatever state you want to be from where you don’t have a clue about what’s going on to Americans and people,” he continued. “I will take them out and I will give them a half a gallon of water and I’m going to see how long they last. And they are going to realize it’s a crisis.
