‘Imagine the evil of using a Christian front to de-Christianize a culture and nation…’
(Joshua Paladino, Liberty Headlines) Leftist billionaire George Soros has “rented evangelicals” to advance his political agenda for many years, according to an Oct. 12 video from The American Association of Evangelicals.
The paid Christian leaders serve as “surprising validators for their anti-Christian projects and candidates,” AAE said. “Imagine the evil of using a Christian front to de-Christianize a culture and nation.”
The goal of this is to infiltrate “the Christian base in America to divide, and ultimately conquer, the religious minded within the Republican Party,” Cheryl Chumley wrote in an opinion piece for The Washington Times.
The video shows Heather Hurlburt, an executive for New America, a left-wing policy organization, admitting her group’s use of the “rent an evangelical” model.
Soros funds Rev. Jim Wallis’s Sojourners, an in-print monthly magazine and an online publication, that defends politics of identity and social justice from a supposedly Christian perspective.
In 2010, Wallis denied that his group received money from Soros.
“No, we don’t receive money from George Soros,” he said. “Our books are totally open. Always have been. Our money comes from Christians who support us and who read Sojourners.”
AAE reported that soon after this interview “grants from Soros to Wallis disappeared from the Open Society website.”
Soon after, however, reporters “found the money trail” and “Wallis was forced to admit the truth.”
The National Review reported on Soros’ influence on Christian groups in 2010.
Sojourners received three grants from the Open Society Foundation, which the National Review called “only the tip of the iceberg.”
Soros funds dozens more religious groups: Pico, Faith in Public Life, Faithful America, New Evangelical Partnership, Telos, J Street, National Council of Churches, Evangelicals for Human Rights, Catholics United, Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good and Catholics for Choice.
“Rather than advancing the whole counsel of Scripture as the highest love for people and culture, these useful ministers assist non-Christian policies, projects and politicians with faith words, optics, organizing and media to confuse Christian and other value voters, to recruit the Church into their radical political agenda and to help the left’s politicians get elected,” AAE said in the video.
