‘Like a lot of young people, I knew I could rely on them for reproductive health care…’
(Michael Barnes, Liberty Headlines) In a shamefully ironic CNN editorial on Tuesday headlined “I have seen too many preventable deaths,” the new head of Planned Parenthood claimed that the sprawling taxpayer-supported abortion monopoly has provided “reproductive health care to millions of people.”
“Planned Parenthood’s work—bringing affordable and accessible health care to as many women (and men and all people) as possible—isn’t just the right thing to do. It’s the urgent thing to do,” wrote Planned Parenthood President Leana Wen.
Wen’s article, which appears to double as a fundraising pitch, reads like a politically-correct screed where negative health outcomes and poor personal choices are always the result of “citizenship status, gender identity, income, sexual orientation, race or religion.”
“Keeping people unhealthy is a tool of oppression,” Wen wrote as the new head of an organization that is almost completely dedicated to killing unborn babies, missing the irony of her “preventable deaths” theme.
Wen, a medical doctor, was the former health commissioner for the city of Baltimore.
Accordingly, her CNN piece reads political rather than scientific.
She accused the Trump administration of intentionally disenfranchising gays, people of color and immigrants through health policy.
But most of all, Wen claims that the Trump administration is oppressing women and that Planned Parenthood stands ready to defend their “health”—which is clearly meant as a euphemism for mass abortions.
For some reason, Wen does not like to use the word “abortion.”
“Over and over again, I have also seen our health care system fail women because of discriminatory policies,” Wen said.
“Everything I’ve learned as a public health leader has led me to this conclusion: the threat to women’s health is the greatest public health catastrophe of our time,” she said.
But all of her complaints boil down to abortion funding and more abortions, no matter how shrouded her words are in left-wing political speech.
She’s running a $500-million-a-year abortion business.
Wen claims that a staggering one-in-five women have received “care” from Planned Parenthood, which is likely a signifier for abortion. Wen proudly said she was one of those women.
“Like a lot of young people, I knew I could rely on them for reproductive health care provided with compassion, respect and genuine concern,” she said.
Judging by her CNN piece, Wen is on a disturbing mission to make abortion standard health care, “Just like breast exams. Just like well-woman exams,” she said.
“Just like abortion, which like birth control, is recognized in medicine to be part of the full spectrum of reproductive health care,” she said.
While Wen slanders the Trump administration as racist, sexist and homophobic, she points to the confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, a devout Catholic, as perhaps Planned Parenthood’s biggest fear.
“Legal abortion is on the line like never before,” Wen claims.
State laws have been passed all over the country in recent years defending the lives of unborn babies who are physically developed enough to survive outside the womb.
Wen scoffs at such protections and says they are “pretending to protect women.” But Roe v. Wade is the big prize.
Overturning Roe, or even eroding it, would have a devastating effect on Planned Parenthood’s business model of mass, federally-funded abortions, as states would again have sovereign authority to curtail organization’s barbaric practices—like selling pieces of aborted babies.
