NFL Ratings Slump is Getting Worse

(New York Post) The TV audience for NFL games steepened its slide in Week 11, losing 1 million viewers versus last year’s season-to-date average.

Angry Fans Bombard NFL Teams’ Facebook Pages w/ Negative Comments

The 6.3 percent slump — worsening from comparable declines of 5.6 to 5.7 percent during the previous three weeks — plagued a week whose off-the-field drama made gridiron tackling seem almost tame by comparison.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones remained the major distraction by continuing to battle with fellow team owners and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

PREVIOUSLY: TRUMP: Goodell is ‘Killing’ the NFL

Jones brought even more tension to Week 11 when video footage surfaced late last week of the football tycoon making a racially charged remark at a 2013 wedding party.

President Donald Trump added to the off-field antics with a tweet calling for the suspension of the Oakland Raiders’ Marshawn Lynch for not standing for the national anthem during a game played in Mexico City.

Only two games had audience gains….

NFL Ratings Slump is Getting Worse

The Owners need to think real hard if they want to let the players destroy what they have built up !! Or stand up and ether Discipline or fire the ones that are the trouble makers. IT’S IN THE OWNERS HANDS !!! CLEAN HOUSE OR LOSE EVERYTHING .

    • Sherissky

Next year will be a lot worse, people won’t be buying the season tickets. Like the ones purchased prior to all this b.s. starting this year.

      • joe

I guess Goodall won’t be getting his personal use of the jet for the rest of his miserable life

        • Sherissky

          I hope that’s true

        • Cynthia Sillaman

OMG…I HOPE THEY GIVE HIM A POINTY TOED BOOT!!!!!!!

      • Peter Coffey

They should offer refunds like Direct TV did for Sunday Ticket holders

      • Meathead

After the Jaguars pulled their stupid stunt in England, according to the Florida Times Union newspaper, over 2,200 season ticket buyers asked for a refund. Jacksonville, Florida has a huge military population and their antics didn’t sit well with those who put their lives on the line for the ungrateful knuckleheads in the NFL.

        • Sherissky

Yeah they have no idea what next year holds. I believe they will be unpleasantly shocked, and I am going to laugh. It is sad for the kids with talent that are playing in high school and college. What is thier future going to look like?
Maybe a new league ran by a decent person with values will take over? Hopefully they aren’t instant millionaires, feeling like they can do what they want whenever they want. Real ticket prices and talented people with character could do very well, I think

          • Cynthia Sillaman

Yes…what a wonderful idea!!! WOW!!! THAT WOULD REALLY GET THE BABIES MAD!!! BOO HOO…

        • Cynthia Sillaman

Sooooooo GLAD 2 HEAR IT! HOPE SOMEONE WILL HAVE THE GUTS 2 FIRE ALLLL THE A-HOLES ON THEIR TEAM!!!!

      • Jauron Miller

You don’t have to you probably broke anyway

    • pudbertsavannahga

      Too late…
The NFL, NBA and ESPN are ALL toast already…
      No recovery possible

      • whoodoo

ESPN is just a subsidiary of multinational conglomerate Walt Disney, through ABC. If it turns to toast, no problem for them, Iger (the CEO) will just dump it, buy another station, and it will be delivering the same propaganda message. That’s how conglomerates work. That is, go after the top if you want to get any results.

    • Janthony132

instead OF CRITICIZING JERRY JONES, they should NOT renew Goodell’s contract and send him packing. Get a new and Good man without preconceived bias’ to make intgelligent and FAIR decisions.

      • Cynthia Sillaman

        By all means…DUMP. NO- GOOD-WILL!!!!!

  • Joecolt

It’s about time the Real American People are Making a Stand “no Pun intended” against these Ungrateful Un-American Low Life’s. I can’t wait to see the Faces of these Animal’s on a new line called the Unemployment line. Not to mention the Owners saying what Hillary Continues to say “What Happened” You Screwed with our Country That’s What Happened.

    • Jackalyn Morrison

      AMEN

    • slk5

for me it’s week 2 and counting…not to mention, first time since ’88 that i didn’t play fantasy football!!!

      • Do they have fantasy basketball? Might help you with not playing fantasy kneeling.

    • With the continued percentage of regular nfl viewers making a harder stand every week ( Thanksgiving might have givin them somewhat of a break), the revenue from commercials has to be in the toilet. Goodell has done the league no good allowing them to extend their kneeling to boo’s. Then stating that next year teams will stay in their locker rooms until after the Anthem. He’s condemned the nfl to lose all commercial backers, and therefore the league itself.

      • Cynthia Sillaman

        GET RID OF NO GOODELL!!!

        • Sherry

          I knew him…jerk!!!!

      • Peter Horvat

Yes, let them kneel in the locker rooms!!

        • Nfl players used to stay in their locker rooms until after the National Anthem when “prime time” games were being telecast. After 2009 players started appearing on the sidelines during “prime time” games as they had been doing for Sunday games all along. It was done to make the players look more patriotic. Then the US dept. of Defense paid the nfl 5.4 million between 2011+2014. The National Guard paid 6.7 million between 2013+2015 to stage on field patriotic ceremonies as part of military recruitment budget-line items. In April 2015 Sen. Flake released a statement criticizing both the DOD and the National Guard for the payment contracts. They were recruitment methods with the planes flying over head, and parachutists landing on fields. But the trashing of our national Anthem and The American Flag should bring the nfl down. These player supposedly kneeling for police brutality is BS. The police are afraid to perform their duties do to having to worry about racial attacks from people like the players from the nfl. I say keep up the boycotting of the nfl games at bars, and at home.

          • Sherry

I use to love football. I was married to an NFL player ( not big money paid then), and worked for an NFL team. When C.Kapernik took a knee, not for any cause, but to bring attention to himself. R. Goodell should have been fired when he did not stand for the fans but the players..what a shame..good for Jerry Jones who is not afraid to stand for what is right.

          • Don’t have any idea when your hubby played in the league, but it must have been a while ago because recent stats say average players are getting paid two million a year. Goodell is the commissioner of football, not a representative of it’s players. But this coward won’t do anything to stop the players from kneeling for colon kaepernick’s inane ideas. They’ve lost sponsors, viewers, bars are boycotting them, if the nfl doesn’t change it’s stance on the player’s trashing the Anthem and American Flag I believe the game will be over for the nfl. Good riddance.

      • kydeplorable

I wish the NFL would lose all their sponsers.i don’t allow it on tv at my house anymore.these greedy players make so much money, the average person can’t afford to take their kid to a game.all these inner city kids will prolly never see a NFL game.the poor kids look up to these guys as role models.the whole thing is unbelievable.

    • Meathead

Screw with the patriots and you get the musket! ! !

      • Cynthia Sillaman

        LOVE…LOVE…LOVE MY PATRIOTS!!! TOM BRADY!!!💝
        LOVE THOSE MUZZLELOADERS

        • Sherry

Sorry, he is married but heads a good team.

      • Sherry

Your team is like any other..overpaid and disrespectful to their flag and you.

    • Sherry

      No truer words spoken!

  • Togo360

    NHRA for me.

    • Papa Bear

I won’t watch them either as they have TOYOTA a JAPANESE Co who BOUGHT their way into AMERICAN auto racing Same goes with NASCAR!! Only DOMESTIC Companies allowed!! Stopped watching Indy when Honda bought its way in

      • chasaragdy

Papa Bear: Agree with your comment. In fact I was going to comment about NASCAR just before I saw your mention of the foreign automobile car-makers buy-in’s into our American Professional Car Racing. In effect, NASCAR is about the last PROFESSIONAL American sports that is mostly untainted by corruption with either the participants (drivers, players, etc), the owners and/or the sponsors.

        • Papa Bear

Still I don’t like ANY FOREIGN company’s involved in AMERICAN Sports NHRA NASCAR or INDY venues. I used to have season tickets for the Indy 500 and the California 500 when Honda bought their way into the Indy 500 that was it for me.

When Toyota BOUGHT their way into NASCAR that was it for me as well. Same with NHRA done I simply don’t care anymore Professional sports is dead to me as well especially with the Negro Felons League protesters who have disrespected not only the fallen but the veterans who served and stood in their stead. Yes I am angry I am angry at America. The America my family and I risked our lives to get to is not the America I remember. These fools who were GIVEN everything and didn’t have to earn or fight to enjoy are all too eager to just give their freedoms away for a few empty promises. They don’t care that by giving their rights and freedoms away they are giving yours and mine away as well. Sorry for she soliloquy I got a bit off track.

          • Cynthia Sillaman

EXCELLENT COMMENT…HOWEVER!! ALSO LOVE THE NEGRO FELON LEAGUE!!! EXCELLENT…ACCURATE…& RIGHT 2 THE POINT!!!

          • Papa Bear

Thank you so much for your kind words unfortunately when I am keyed up I tend to ramble

      • Jackalyn Morrison

        Us to thanks

        • Papa Bear

I don’t quite understand what you meant by that.

      • tbone188

But at least the Japanese respect us and our POTUS,Flag and anthem. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.

        • Papa Bear

The Japanese are only respect us for what we can provide to them!!

Asians do not consider patent laws to be valid and so pilfer technology. You might notice their auto industry introduces clones of not only US autos and trucks but others as well. Asians rarely purchase out products and when they do reverse engineer them so as to cheapen them up then sell them in the US The profits from those sales support a foreign country’s economy not ours and they never come back. THAT is why we have huge trade deficits with other nations.

          • B737-300

            Spot on!

  • David Ashcroft

Continue the boycott- No nfl games on Thanksgiving-

  • Gregg Parker

79… 56….43….22…6…zero….hut hut… hut? We interrupt your regularly scheduled game because nobody gives a sheet!

    • lill8

Can we bring back “Heidi”? Perhaps I am the only one old enough to remember that.

      • Gregg Parker

        Only this time a documentary on Trump’s Campaign… lol… great call lill8

      • tbone188

Oakland the jets (??) but I no longer watch.

    • Jack durham

      Lol

  • Greg

What those pea brained “kneelers” with backing from pea brained Roger Goodell is that people attend or watch NFL games on TV because it gives those viewers a chance to unwind and forget about their troubles and grievances let alone see or hear someone elses and on top of it all, watch those players run down this country and everything it stands for. I guess my prediction is coming true as I’m seeing the demise of the NFL before my eyes because of Goodell’s
    foolish bullheadedness.

    • chasaragdy

Greg: It’s not Roger Goodell that’s the bad guy in the NFL controversies. I’m going to mention several positions of power next; however, I am NOT inferring that every person/position/executive/boss/coach, etc is guilty! The disrespect for the American Flag, the National Anthem, the United States Military, AND teachers, bosses, political figures, coaches, neighborhoods and neighbors, religion, the U S Constitution and Bill of Rights, law and order, the Office of the President of The United States, and the individual holding the office of POTUS, sanctity of life, humanity, Freedom and Rights, did not begin with one racist San Francisco professional football player. Within a short period of time there were dozens of protesters, each with a different version as to why they protested. The disrespect begins within our homes–the parents, at the lack of a family get-together dinners, school’s failed social “promotions” of failing students, federal control of and propaganda into our educational systems K through 12, the federal AND State’s nanny-state power, the failure to respect the property of others, the dispect of hard work and social and financial success, and control of fifty percent (50%) of Americans that do not pay taxes AND believe all their “freebies” are actually free (what a misnomer and oxymoron perpetrated upon the American populace), etal, etc!! As you can see, we, all of us, can go on and on as to the root causes, effects but the bottom line is we have solved nothing.

I was never for term limits set by federal legislation, believing that each state’s voters should have the say on the term limits of their Federal Representatives and Senators. Just a few days ago I was surprised to find out the numbers of congressional representatives and senators OVER the age of eighty (80) years old…EIGHTY YEARS OLD…!! And still making laws. Actually, at the age of about sixty-nine and beyond laws and legislation is NOT made by the elected senator or representative, but by their aides and staff; the elected officials are no longer acting on behalf of their constituents!!! Federal elected officials–othe than the POTUS and VPOTUS–should be debated. My opinion is that elected officials should be limited to twenty-four (24) years in the House and/or Senate, including their aides and staff!! After their elected terms are over, their efforts of become lobbyists after their federal tenures was just extended to five (5) years and signed into law by President Trump.

I apologize for the extended rant, but hopefully what I’ve espoused just might be what many others feel or maybe just have not thought about. I’m not a Libertarian, but I feel less (federal) government, the better. President Trump has signed bills and Executive Orders in his first eleven (11) months eliminating over eight hundred (800) Federal laws and regulations! That’s a great beginning. Let’s pray less government in people’s lives will begin to make citizens feel better about themselves, their families, their jobs and communities, America, the American Flag and our Constitution and the Anthem!

      • Greg

I believe there’s a time and place for everything and Mr.
Kaepernick who started it all with his millions in wealth should’ve put full page adds in papers accross the country with a date to start a rally in Washington in front of the White House protesting maltreatment of Blacks by police officers. He probably would’ve attracted thousands of followers that sympathise with his cause doing it on his own time. He would have had a much more positive response protesting in this matter rather than bringing it to the playing field which turned a lot of fans off and caused a negative response from them and stopped them from watching the games because of it.

    • Cynthia Sillaman

I would call it PURE COWARDICE!!

  • big KAhuna

Yes we must all continue our boycott of the NFL until Goodell is replaced by a patriot who will enforce the rules of the NFL- Ex Military would be a better choice. Politics must stay away from sports/entertainment period. Anyone disrespecting our president will bring the rath of us voters upon them. We have much doubt about the NFL – Democratic Party influenced ( part of the problem) who are not in our Country/Constitutions best interest. Much change will be necessary to regain my interest.

    • tbone188

I am not sure, even that would bring me back. I am gone from the nfl!

      • big KAhuna

        Tbone
I may never return either- tbd.
I must have respect for the players and their abilities to be good role models. After VN I have never put a nickel in Jane Fonda’s pocketbook because of her aid to our enemies. Knowing the NFL is 70% black players and knowing that most make piss poor Americans and run the NFL. Most are overpaid, spoiled, drug addicts who would be peddling drugs on the streets if it wasn’t for the NFL and our money. We need big changes or most of their fans are history. Sponsors are already bailing out.

        • tbone188

I agree 1000% but where do we go from here? It’s almost like the immigration problem it’s overwhelming at this point.

          • big KAhuna

Trump has shut down much yet he gets little help from Sessions and the Sorros payed liberal judges obstructing our laws.
I would shut down all Muslim immigration ( common sense – they produce 97% of the worlds terrorists and want sharia law). The only immigration would be Christians ( they are in Sync and support our Constitution). Last time the Democrats were dividing our nation, Lincoln had to declare martial law, arrest thousands of Democratic politicians, and shut down over 300+ Democratic newspapers. I expect nothing less from our current administration. Mueller must go now. Those trying to impeach are part of the Sorros one world order movement— our AG must Indict!

          • Jack durham

            Yes…. Perfectly stated

        • Cynthia Sillaman

Hope…they keep on BAILING!! THIS RACIAL RADICAL MOVEMENT IS NOTHING MORE THAN “FOLLOW THE LEADER”!! LIKE….WHY DO YOU MILLIONAIRES HAVE THIS FALSE SENSE OF ENTITLEMENT?????

        • B737-300

I,too, have never watched the Traitor Fonda movies or anything else she promotes. Also I will never watch another NFL game.

          • big KAhuna

Spoken like a true patriot who has the courage of his convictions- well said! The NFL needs cleaning up wrong mindsets. Top leadership must be replaced
To put it back on the right path- yet many players will have to be cut also. God bless Jerry Jones for standing up against Goodell- gutsy move.

          • Jack durham

I am with you on that. Went to eat at a restaurant the other day and the national felony league was on the t v . so we left and went to another place to eat. Will not even listen much less watch. This is from a Vietnam vet.

      • big KAhuna

I’m also happy that Americans are seeing these self centered athletes for who they really are.
        Racist to the core.

        • Cynthia Sillaman

          DISGUSTING…2 THE CORE!!! YUCK!!!!!

  • GotURnumber

Frankly, the world would be an infinitely better place if Pro Sports, Cell Phones, and the Internet all miraculously disappeared from the face of the Earth.

    • Margie

      Hear, hear!!

  • Tom Gassett

At this point … what’s the point? When you protest … it’s about bringing people to your issue, and ultimately bringing people together. All these protest have done is to hurt the NFL. They haven’t brought anyone to the issue or brought us together. So the question stands. At this point … what’s the point?

    • Tired…

The point was for Colin K. to gain attention…and it worked…just ask GQ!

    • Mountain_Dew_518

As Hilliary says, At this point what difference does it make?

  • carl

The worst is yet to come for the NFL, just wait until it is time for the fans to renew their season tickets and many of them won’t.

    • Beeker D.

After next years Season Ticket Sales come in I’ll bet the owners and the NFL will do something drastic. Let’s just hope that it’s the ~~~~Right Thing!

      • Mountain_Dew_518

Even if they do the right thing now it is too late. They will suffer the consequences. NO MORE NFL ever for me. Right now I listen to the college games. A big one coming up this weekend. Alabama and Auburn.

  • TBanacek

I haven’t watched a bit of the NFL this season after the thugs took a crap on my country. Especially was displeased when Aaron Rodgers, QB of the Packers, tried to con us fans by “inviting all the fans in the stands to link arms” along with the players also on one knee. Evidently Rodgers was not smart enough to realize he was asking fans to give approval to the thugs taking their knee in protest.

  • 191145

Haven’t watched a game since kapperdick pulled his stink last year.

  • Yosemite Sam

On this Thanksgiving Day, I’m not watching foolish brain dead buffoons in the NFL. Instead watching the “Great One”, Mark Levin over on CRTV. God Bless America! MAGA

  • Elmer Fredrick

The rich BRAIN DEAD COONS will NEVER LEARN.

  • GotURnumber

Pro sports players have IQ’s 2 points below plant life. They make millions a year, are drug users, rapist, generally are criminals and the last thing on their pea sized brain is a desire to assimilate into our society as an american. They want their own country within our country run by their immoral standards. Story of the left.

    • tbone188

They are forcing division and blaming POTUS and Police and Americans for this. It makes me sick!!!

      • GotURnumber

This path we’re on cannot and will not end peacefully.

  • C. Scott

Cut the NFL off at the neck. Let them bleed out so the players have to get a real job.

    • B737-300

But most of them couldn’t get a real job!

  • Rusty Landon

Well, the NFL is utterly non-existent in this home.
If the players want to thumb their noses at our flag & anthem, then their team’s owners can buy all the tickets. And their sponsors on TV will think again before buying airtime. It may even be happening now…

  • higgy01

I was astounded at how much the NFL gets from tax paying citizens for their stadiums, etc. I think the NFL should be in the class as indoor soccer as far as revenue is concerned.

  • David Johnston

Goodell doesn’t even have the ballickers to enforce the NFL’s own published rules..He fumbled on the domestic abuse cases and has muffed the Kaepernick led kneel downs..He has run the NFL into the gutter….Just watch his smug demeanor when he speaks…He needs to run out of the country…

  • Meathead

There are no NFL games being watched at this house. Looks like they may go the way of Woolworth, W.T. Grant, Zayre, etc. College football from here on out!

  • therealworld

I hope the negro football players end up Broke and Homeless

    • Cynthia Sillaman

      ME TOO!!!!

  • therealworld

I see Superbowl Commercials going for $1 per 30 sec spots and the only advertisers will be Liberal Toilet paper companies.

  • Publius40

My family has stopped watching any NFL game. These players who insist on showing disrespect for our flag and anthem would be fired if I owned the team. I’ll not watch or go to another game as long as this goes on. I was really steamed when I read of the players stood in respect for the Mexican flag, but knelt in disrespect for ours. +)&%$#@% and the horse they came in on sums up my attitude on the NFL.

  • Pat Warnock

slump continues yet Goodell is demanding $50m and use of a private jet!

  • WVF

Insofar as I’m concerned, the NFL died with Kaepernick. I don’t watch or patronize this anti-American outfit. Done. Finished!

  • keepersleeper

Continue to BOYCOTT these UNGRATEFUL fu#%ers!!

  • Askjrsk

I hope the NFL dies a hard death. This Thanksgiving we did not miss the games. We are over the NFL. MAGA

  • Roy

I just have to say I guess it is true. Athletes is just dumb players. Well they are sure proving it to me now. With so many fans booing, boycotting games, not watching them and they still are pulling their antics. They are just DUMB, DUMB, DUMB. And the owners are also to blame. Hats off to Jerry Jones a true owner. Ya kneel, ya don’t play, my team, ya don’t like it play somewhere else. If I was owner of any team football or other I would fire them that took this step to display nonsense. Hire someone else soon they would get the message. I would rather have patriotic losers than a bunch of treason kneeling winners. Contract time comes around remember that players Ya Reap What You Sow. And Goodell be a leader not a deadhead. Now matter what you do everyone is not going to like it. Call President Trump and ask him for training you very well need it. And listen to Mr. Jerry Jones and get a backbone Mr. Goodell. The whole NFL as a whole should be ashamed of themselves. A Vet

  • 1PatriotForever

I’ll be happy when 50% stop attending and watching by way of the tube

  • kabulgeorge

I bet all the owners are adding clauses into the new contracts that base the salary on crowd size and TV ratings so the players will feel the pain!

  • silverbackV

I watched that video of Jerry Jones and it is B.S. of the first order fake news. The “fan” behind him is in no way Caucasian and the comment is vague. If the truth were to come out, I would not be surprised to learn that Jennifer if black.

Other than that, the NFL is reaping what it sowed! MAGA!

  • 27633171

These Social Justice and Political Resistance Warriors are killing the goose that laid their golden eggs. The longer this goes on the worse it’s going to get. More and more people are tuning the National Fools League out and finding better things to do with their time and money. Apparently, the owners are rich enough to keep paying these fools exorbitant salaries without the fans participation. The question is, how long will this go on ? By the time they wake up, they may find that the base that supported them no longer exists.

  • Kim Tuell

MY nfl Slogan for 2017/2018…”NOT ONE MORE DIME”!

  • Kim Tuell

Thanks To All Of The Veterans, Family & Friends Who Made November 12th Veterans Day Weekend The Biggest Drop In nfl Viewership! I Am So THANKFULL to EVERYONE!

  • Michael E. VanCauwenberghs

The National Felon League should find outstanding Americans to serve on their teams, until then my money and time will be spent elsewhere not watching those thugs.

  • 2War Abn Vet

Can somebody tell me why I should care about the NFL or about anybody or anything associated with it?

  • Louie Rey

And the most overpaid executive in the world, Roger Goodell, is the one most culpable for the decline. If he had any balls he would have nipped this controversy in the bud LAST YEAR when Colin Kaepernick first took a knee during the anthem. No, Mr. “It’s All About The Fans” did absolutely nothing and this is the result. It gets even more insane than that. Mr. “PSLs Are A Good Investment” is currently being paid $44 million a year on his contract which is in its last year. He’s negotiating a new contract for, get this, $50 million a year, health insurance FOR LIFE and the use of a private jet. If you made one tenth what he makes would you have trouble paying for health insurance? Pathetic.

  • Christian_Prophet

Stop police from killing Black Americans. This little spat can end quickly. The patriots are those protesting injustice against Blacks. The traitors are those constantly defending the corrupt cops.

    • Steve G.

Like the corrupt cop in Ferguson who got attacked, having his eye socket busted. “Hands Up Don’t Shoot” was a lie. It never happened, and that is the problem here. Baltimore didn’t happen the way it was reported either. Yes there are corrupt police, but when you lie about some of these situations then your protest has no credibility.

      • Jjb54

Steve, when you start to state FACTS and such to the left, they go “all Charley Brown Teacher” on you. All they here is the trumpet, “blah, blah, blah ….”

They cannot deal with FACTS …. especially when it does NOT fit into their spoon fed narratives. They have been told lies so many times, they simply do not understand TRUTHFUL AND HONEST FACTS ….. They just cannot handle it.

        • Steve G.

That’s funny! How do you teach someone the truth when they’re unteachable?

          • Jjb54

.. thus why they are only able to “Hear” – “blah, blah, blah… ” because they are not capable of hearing facts….. 😉

NFL Ratings Slump is Getting Worse

THE OWNERS MUST BE TELLING EACH OTHER ,!!! JUST HANG ON THE FANS WILL GIVE UP AND START COMING BACK.
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN NFL WILL GO BUST FIRST THE WAY I SEE IT .

  • Jim Hanks

The NFL will not miss my money. I have never send them a dime and never will. As far as I am concerned, it is just a bunch of overpaid head knockers with underdressed cheerleaders.

  • Sylvia Avila

Great! Still Boycotting! Tired of these Anti-American haters trying to take over our America! No more time to hit them where they hurt their Wallets!!

  • Steve G.

The MSM tries to spin the boycott by releasing ticket sales for games but not the actual attendance to the games. Most tickets are purchased before the season starts. The fact that people have paid a lot of money for these tickets only to not go to the game is a pretty profound statement.

I hope the NFL goes broke and never recovers.

WHY Are There ANY Fans Left ??? In My Opinion…Those Still Going to the Games Are ” FOR NOT STANDING FOR THE NATIONAL ATHEM “

  • watchdogman

So many have the NFL as their god… I am pretty sure they are praying to the wrong entity every Monday, Thursday and Sunday.

Do you know who’s benefiting out of all of this? Its the video rental industry. Instead of watching the NFL games, former fans are passing the time watching vending machine CDs rather than watching those Idiotic players knee down during the anthem ceremonies. Noticed that the stock prices in those industries are going up.

I think they all should stay in the locker room and not get paid remember the lock-out ? after that it was all about the game & the fans like it should be we pay their extremely generous salaries! Keep your politics out of work

  • En Passant

Time for the ‘protesters’ to band together and start their own team. Name?

How about the UnAmerican Kneelers. That should draw the crowds …

  • Mad Scientist

If Goodell had had a spine and showed some leadership right at the start this would not now be an issue. But he continues to think he can straddle both sides of the fence and placate both the players and the fans. Judging by the comments from my fellow Monday Morning Quarterbacks (pun intended) the damage is already done and who knows if it can be repaired.

BEEN GOING TO A FRIENDS HOUSE FOR OVER 10 YRS. , THURSDAY ON THANKSGIING DAY WAS THE FIRST TIME NO DAMN FOOTBALL. WE PLAYED GAMES AND HAD PLENTY OF CONVERSATION. GOT TO REALLY KNOW OUR FIENDS, IT WASN’T THE MEN PILED IN FRONT OF THE TV, AND THE WOMEN SITTING IN THE KITCHEN, WE ALL PLAYED GAME AND FOR ONCE I REALLY FELT LIKE IT WAS THANKSGIVING. MADE SOME SKIPE CALLS TO OUR HEROS IN UNIFOM OVER SEAS AND AROUND THE WORLD.

NFL Ratings Slump is Getting Worse

ALL THE OWNERS HAVE TO DO IS REMOVE THE CRAP OFF THE ROSTER AND THE GAMES WOULD START GETTING BACK TO NORMAL PROVIDING NO ONE ELSE PULLED ANY CRAP. .

To those of you who think that your boycott had anything to do with this slump, think again. This has been a long time coming. Possibly about 10-15 years into the new century. Free agency and too many flags meant to penalize players from preventing injuries along with the removal of Monday Night Football on network TV and having to pay to watch on cable or the internet has slowly killed the sport and made it less of a sport to watch for the regular Joe out there. This is primarily of their own doing and forgetting who made the sport a success. Not that the boycott didn’t add to the damage already done by the greedy overlords of the NFL (i.e. Jerry Jones and Al Davis to name a few) this is what happens when you discount the fans and the true origins of the sport. It became less of a sport and more of a drama series with personal lives of the athletes taking center stage. Being a Cowboy fan my interest began to wane during the nineties the minute Jerry Jones took control of the team upon firing Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson and his total disrespect for what these coaches accomplished during their tenures. In addition, I’m also a Seahawks fan and have lost total respect for Marshawn Lynch now with the Oakland Raiders since his asinine behavior of standing for the Mexican anthem and kneeling for the American anthem was purposely meant to provoke anger and had no place with what the other players have been protesting about and only demeans its true intent.
