‘I put the lives and incomes of Americans first…’
(Michael Barnes, Liberty Headlines) Under Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the debate floor of the House of Representatives has become unusually contentious.
Now, so have the hallways.
On Friday, Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., hung a wall poster outside of his House office at the U.S. Capitol featuring several portraits of deceased Americans. The poster read: “These Americans, Killed by Illegal Aliens, Had Dreams Too.”
Brooks said he hung the poster to highlight the need for border security and to memorialize the unnecessary deaths of Americans killed by illegal immigrants.
He also hung it in response to his across the hall neighbor, socialist-friendly Joaquín Castro, D-Texas.
Castro is an open-borders advocate who first hung his own poster calling for the amnesty of millions of so-called “dreamers.”
But for Brooks, the hallway activism was a step too far.
“Socialist Democrats support open border policies that kill a minimum of 50 Americans every day, which is over 15,000 dead Americans every year,” said Brooks. “Drug overdoses kill at least 70,000 Americans every year.”
The majority of these deaths stem from cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and other drugs that are illegally transported across the southern border.
On Jan. 31, border patrol agents made the largest fentanyl seizure ever at an Arizona border crossing. More than 250 pounds of the drug—enough to kill 57 million Americans—was seized from an 18-wheeler truck crossing into the U.S. from Mexico.
But the crisis isn’t just about drugs, Brooks stated.
“Over 2,000 illegal aliens were apprehended for homicides on American soil in fiscal year 2018 alone. In addition, illegal aliens average committing more than 100,000 crimes and 15,000 sexual assaults on American soil every year!” he continued.
Their strategy, he said, is to “elevate illegal aliens over American citizens.”
Brooks said he, on the other hand, did not. “I put the lives and incomes of Americans first,” he said.
