Alabama Rep. Rips Media for Ignoring Victim Families of Criminal Aliens

REP. BROOKS: ‘What you’re seeing today is just a microcosm of what is happening across America…’

(Michael Barnes, Liberty Headlines) Congressman Mo Brooks, an Alabama Republican, threw down the gauntlet against the news media on Tuesday for its collective coverage of the partial government shutdown and the mass illegal immigration crisis at the U.S. southern border.

“Wouldn’t it be nice if these radical open borders news media outlets would tell the rest of the story?” Brooks asked, while flanked by a group of “Angel Moms” outside the Capitol building in Washington, D.C.

The Angel Moms, or women who’ve lost children to criminal illegal aliens, appeared with Brooks to share their grief at a press conference along with their family members.

Despite a raging political fray over President Trump’s border wall and the issue of illegal immigration, Angel Moms have been summarily ignored by the mainstream press — an occurrence Brooks angrily denounced.

.

“Wouldn’t it be nice if CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, the Washington Post and the New York Times to tell their stories,” Brooks said, adding, “the way they told the stories of the two illegal alien children who died?”

The congressman was referring to the weeklong media uproar over two children who died at the border in their parent’s quest for automatic asylum.

The media blamed Trump and immigration enforcement, though Brooks said the parent was “irresponsible to drag those kids across tremendous hardship and terrain.”

He also said that “they were induced to do so by Democrat policies that reward those who drag their kids across our border.”

Brooks was joined by Republican Congressmen Louie Gohmert of Texas, Matt Gaetz of Florida, Chip Roy of Texas, Andy Biggs of Arizona, Jody Hice of Georgia, Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, and former Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan.

Five Angel Moms attended, including Wendy Corcoran, whose son Pierce was killed in Chattanooga, Tennessee by a drunk illegal alien repeat DUI offender in a head-on car crash.

Sabine Durden was also in attendance. Her son Dominic was killed when a DUI repeat offender hit his motorcycle and drug him to his death. The illegal alien drunk driver fled the wreck, but was later caught.

Mary Ann Mendoza is the mother of Mesa, Arizona, Police Sergeant Brandon Mendoza. He was killed by an illegal alien who was high on meth and had a blood-alcohol level of three times the legal limit.

“What you’re seeing today is just a microcosm of what is happening across America,” Brooks said.

He then recited official government data:

In fiscal year 2018, 17,000 adults at the border with existing criminal records were arrested by Customs and Border Protection and other border agents.

During the last two years, 117,000 illegal aliens per year were arrested or convicted inside America for crimes they committed.

Illegal aliens committed roughly 50,000 assaults per year in the U.S.

Illegal aliens committed roughly 15,000 sex crimes per year.

“Who knows how many they didn’t catch?” Brooks said.

The congressman passionately urged listeners to contact Democrats and demand that they prioritize Americans over illegal immigrants. He also said that the border crisis requires a declaration of national emergency.

“Don’t wait until you’re in the position of being an Angel Mom, mourning for a lost son or daughter,” Brooks said.
