‘All of us have a constitutional right to hold and to express our views. But to subscribe to a particular political agenda undermines the potential of the sport…’
She also said that the league should place the American flag on players’ jerseys and warm-up apparel.
Loeffler has more than a superficial political interest at stake. She’s co-owner of the Atlanta Dream.
“Players, coaches, and yes—team owners—share differing opinions on many issues,” she wrote. “All of us have a constitutional right to hold and to express our views. But to subscribe to a particular political agenda undermines the potential of the sport and sends a message of exclusion.”
Loeffler says she’s speaking out because Black Lives Matter—the violent, Marxist movement; not the idea of racial equality—-is polarizing sports instead of bringing people together.
“The lives of each and every African American matter, and there’s no debating the fact that there is no place for racism in our country,” she said.
“However, I adamantly oppose the Black Lives Matter political movement, which has advocated for the defunding of police, called for the removal of Jesus from churches and the disruption of the nuclear family structure, harbored anti-Semitic views, and promoted violence and destruction across the country,” Loeffler continued.
“I believe it is totally misaligned with the values and goals of the WNBA and the Atlanta Dream, where we support tolerance and inclusion.”
Despite being co-owner of a leading WNBA franchise, Loeffler said she wasn’t even contacted prior to the league’s decision.
Loeffler was maligned over the weekend for speaking against violent “defund the police” protests in Atlanta on the Fourth of July. After her letter, an African American pastor accused her on Twitter of “tribalism and bigotry.”
“I’m calling for unity around the American flag — the ultimate symbol of freedom,” Loeffler responded. “I’m calling for rejection of a movement that promotes violence, attacks police, & embraces anti-Semitism.”

Who’s really on the wrong side of history, @ReverendWarnock?

Some of the players from the team also threatened to walk if Loeffler was not removed from her role.
Guard Renee Montgomery, who already had opted out of the season to focus on her social activism, called out Loeffler for hypocrisy due to her criticism of armed thugs escalating the violence in riot-torn Atlanta.
