‘I’m incredibly proud of my dad and honored to be his daughter…’
(Kaylee McGhee, Liberty Headlines) Former Vice President Dick Cheney’s daughter again called out actor Christian Bale for comparing her father to Satan during Sunday’s Golden Globes award ceremony.
Bale won a “Best Actor” Golden Globe for his portrayal of Dick Cheney in the movie “Vice” and made one of the night’s surprisingly few forays into politics with insults directed at Cheney and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
“Bale finally had the chance to play a real superhero and he clearly screwed it up,” Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., said of the “Dark Knight” star on “Fox & Friends.”
“I’m incredibly proud of my dad and honored to be his daughter,” Cheney said.
Cheney responded to Bale on Twitter the morning after his “Satan” comments, linking to a story about the troubled actor’s arrest in 2008 over domestic abuse charges.
Cheney noted that she has not seen “Vice” yet because of the ongoing partial government shutdown and said that while the Republicans have been busy trying to resolve the shutdown, Democrats are playing “political games.”
“You know, we know that the most important thing we’ve got to do as elected officials is secure the border, keep the nation safe, and we’re not going to be partisan, you know, playing partisan games here,” Cheney told “Fox & Friends.” “We’re going to make sure we do what’s necessary. We’re standing with The President. We had a great meeting last night with Vice President Pence, and we’re going to stand with The President on this one.”
“We’re in a situation where we’ve got really important work to do to get the border secure and to make sure that the Democrats stop playing games, come to the table,” she continued. “They won’t do their job, the job the American people elected them to do. So, we are in this fight to make sure we do the right thing. We’re going to continue to do that and stand with The President.”
