‘They know that this country is getting darker…’
(Kaylee McGhee, Liberty Headlines) Joy Behar said Senate Republicans fought an FBI investigation into an allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh to retain “white power.”
Behar said on Friday during “The View” that Senate Republicans are trying to hold onto power and refuse to listen to Christine Blasey Ford, a California professor accusing Kavanaugh of attempted sexual assault in high school.
“The people on the Republican side, it looks like to me, do not want to investigate this any further,” Behar said. “They just want to hold on to their power. They know that this country is getting darker. White Europeans are now 61 percent of the population … In 2045 it will be 49 percent.”
Behar referred to statistics in a recent study by Brookings Institution: “Pretty soon we’ll be like South Africa, apartheid, where 10 percent of white people were running the country,” she said. “It seems like the trajectory that we’re on.”
Whoopi Goldberg, Behar’s co-host, disagreed with Behar: “That may be the trajectory we’re on, but that’s not where we’re going, that’s not what’s happening.”
“We hope not, but this is what they want,” Behar responded. “These are the people who are only interested in retaining white power in this country.”
Senate Republicans have agreed to stall the vote on Kavanaugh’s confirmation until after an FBI investigation is completed, but it must be done within the week or the Senate will proceed.
Behar said Republicans don’t care whether Ford is telling the truth.
“It’s almost like they’re worried that, ‘Oh, white people are going to lose all their power,’” she said. “So they don’t care if she’s lying or he’s lying. They just want to hold on to their power.”
