Thomas Homan says Speaker would rather fight Trump than focus on border security…
(Kaylee McGhee, Liberty Headlines) When asked what he would say to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., in the midst of the ongoing government shutdown, the former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said: “She’s disgusting.”
Thomas Homan said Pelosi and the other obstructionist Democrats pose a threat not only to American security, but also to vulnerable migrants seeking access to the U.S.
“[Trump’s] claim that there’s a crisis at the border — this isn’t just about enforcing the law,” Thomas Homan said in an interview with “Fox and Friends” on Thursday. “This is about saving lives.
“If there would’ve been a wall in that area where those two children crossed, they might be alive today,” Homan added, referencing the two migrant children who died after receiving medical treatment in the U.S. last month.
Homan said Pelosi would rather fight the president than focus on border security.
“If Nancy Pelosi had seen what I saw over the 34 years of my career, maybe she’d have a different attitude. Because when you entice people to come to this country illegally because you push sanctuary cities, you want to abolish ICE, you want no real enforcement of our border walls, you don’t fix the loopholes like the asylum laws — that entices people to come to this country,” Homan said.
Pelosi asked Trump in a letter on Wednesday to delay or put in writing his annual State of the Union address until the partial government shutdown ends, citing security concerns and unrest in the Capitol.
“Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to the Congress on January 29th,” Pelosi wrote.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen pushed back at Pelosi and said her department is more than willing and “fully prepared to support and secure the State of the Union.”
Homan said Pelosi’s request wasn’t surprising: “She is scared to death that the president is going to speak straight to the American people more than eight minutes.”
