Called himself a ‘champion of women’ before announcing decision…

(Daily Caller News Foundation) Minnesota Democratic Sen. Al Franken officially resigned in a speech on the Senate floor Thursday amid multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.

Franken’s resignation comes the day after several dozen of his Democratic colleagues called for the Minnesota Democratic to step aside.

Before announcing his resignation, Franken called himself a “champion of women.”

“Serving in the United States Senate has been a great honor of my life… Today I am announcing that in the coming weeks, I will be resigning as a member of the United States Senate,” Franken said.

“I was shocked. I was upset. But in responding to their claims, I wanted to be respectful of that broader conversation because all women deserve to be heard and their experience taken seriously,” the Minnesota Democrat said in his speech.

Leeann Tweeden first accused Franken in late November of forcibly kissing her and groping her on a USO tour in 2006.

Franken apologized for his behavior, but continued to face allegations from a number of other women, who say he sexually mistreated them while serving in the U.S. Senate.

Seven women now have accused Franken of sexual misconduct.

Minnesota’s female Democratic lieutenant governor, Tina Smith, will reportedly replace Franken to prevent a special election which would give Republicans an opportunity to run for Franken’s now vacant seat.

“Even on the worst day of my political life, its all been worth it,” Franken said. “I’m giving up my seat, but I’m not giving up my voice.”

The irrational left is already using his resignation as a weapon and calling for Trump to step down. They continue to fall apart as a party and become more unhinged by the day. Democrats knew full well what he was but they defended one of their own. The double standards are outrageous.

I have always found Frankin to be obnoxious. Good riddance. TRUMP said “YOU CAN grab them by the pu&&y”, not that he DID grab them. Libs love twisting one’s words around to suit their AGENDA.

“Called himself a ‘champion of women’ before announcing decision…”
Yet ANOTHER example of Liberal/Democrat cognitive dissonance!

Let’s be honest, there’s a few reasons why Franken is even resigning in the first place; his sick secrets became public, and now the Dems want him to resign, not because it’s the right thing to do, but because they are strategically expecting to remove any incoming Republicans members of Congress they deem unworthy, despite no evidence to conclude their flimsy claims.

Before all the Frankenstein haters out there start celebrating too early they need to remember that he left himself an escape hatch. He only said he would resign in the coming weeks which leaves him the option of changing his mind. I for one cannot stand Al Franken or his politics but the truth is that he has not been proven guilty of anything. Even in that infamous photo, he was not groping that woman’s breasts but was only pretending to and it is clear that he was acting in a joking manner. What is going on here is easily recognized as a witch hunt just like the famous witch hunt of Salem, Mass. Now, for the partisans on both sides, they had better think about the consequences of what they are doing. When you start punishing people on the basis of accusations without due process, you are asking for the same to be done to you. This is a slippery slope that will inevitably lead to disaster.

Franken is doing the right thing in resigning. He was also correct in calling out Trump and Roy Moore for their misogyny.
