‘It’s illegal. It is just plain illegal…’
(Kaylee McGhee, Liberty Headlines) New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio vowed to take President Donald Trump to court if he tries to send asylum-seeking immigrants to the city, despite its “sanctuary city” status.
“It’s illegal. It is just plain illegal. We will meet him in court. We will beat him in court,” de Blasio said on NY1, reported the New York Post.
The Trump administration is reportedly considering a proposal that would transport immigrants seeking asylum to sanctuary cities to relieve the overcrowded and underfunded border cities.
Trump tweeted on Monday that he fully supported the plan.
Those Illegal Immigrants who can no longer be legally held (Congress must fix the laws and loopholes) will be, subject to Homeland Security, given to Sanctuary Cities and States!

Mayors of other sanctuary cities, like Philadelphia, Chicago and San Francisco, have said they would welcome the immigrants.
“The city would be prepared to welcome these immigrants just as we have embraced our immigrant communities for decades,” Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said in a statement.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who will leave office in a month, said the city would help as it always has: “As a welcoming city, we would welcome these migrants with open arms, just as we welcomed Syrian refugees, just as we welcomed Puerto Ricans displaced by Hurricane Maria,” he said in a statement.
San Francisco Mayor London Breed said on Twitter that Trump’s threat little more than fear-mongering to divert people’s attention.
This is just another in a long line of scare tactics and half-baked ideas that are just about chasing headlines and distracting people from real issues. In SF we are proud to be a sanctuary city and we’ll continue to stand up for all of our residents. https://t.co/qbc19UZq3u

De Blasio isn’t the only sanctuary city leader resisting Trump’s efforts.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Trump’s proposal is nonsensical, according to the Los Angeles Times, and claimed the federal government is already “dumping people” in the state by releasing immigrants into the streets before the asylum process is complete.
