‘I’ll bet you’re as bright as you are good-looking…’
(Kaylee McGhee, Liberty Headlines) After promising to pay more attention to personal space, presidential hopeful Joe Biden came under criticism once again for awkwardly putting his hand on a 10-year-old girl.
At a campaign stop in Houston, Texas, video footage of Biden shows an “odd” interaction, according to Washington Post reporter Felicia Sonmez, in which Biden leads the young girl to the microphone and says, “I’ll bet you’re as bright as you are good-looking.”
In a somewhat odd moment at tonight’s AFT town hall, Biden tells a 10-year-old girl, “I’ll bet you’re as bright as you are good-looking.” He takes her over to the assembled reporters, then stands behind her and puts his hands on her shoulders while he’s talking.

After the girl told Biden she was interested in journalism, Biden grabbed her and led her to the back of the room where various reporters were covering the event.
He continued to hold her shoulders and at one point leaned down very close to her head.
The Biden campaign refused to comment on the interaction, according to Sonmez, and the girl didn’t note any discomfort.
Biden vowed to be more conscientious of the way he interacted with women last month after he came under criticism for “inappropriate” touching.
Several women accused the former vice president of making them feel “uncomfortable” and disrespecting their personal space.
The 76-year-old didn’t apologize for his actions but rather said his actions were simply “expressions of affection.”
“In my career, I’ve always tried to make a human connection. That’s my responsibility. I shake hands, I hug people, I grab men and women by the shoulders and say, ‘You can do this.’ Whether they’re men, women, young, old, it’s the way I’ve always been. It’s the way I’ve tried to show I care about them and I’m listening,” Biden said in a video addressing the allegations.
“Social norms have changed, they’ve shifted,” he continued. “And the boundaries of personal space have been reset, and I get it. I get it. I hear what they’re saying. I understand it. And I’ll be much more mindful — that’s my responsibility, and I’ll meet it.”
