Governor in U.S. Virgin Islands Orders Gun & Ammo Confiscation

(WND) A hurricane is on the way, and preparations always include boarding up windows, stocking up on food, water and batteries, and sometimes fleeing inland.

A governor in one U.S. territory, however, has another plan: Grab all the guns.

According to the Daily Caller, the governor of the Virgin Islands, a U.S. territory, has signed an order to that effect.

The order explains that Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp authorized the territory’s adjutant general “to mobilize such units of the National Guard as are necessary to maintain or restore public order, and to guarantee the safety of life and property,” as Hurricane Irma approaches from the Atlantic.

The adjutant general, he said, “is authorized and directed to seize arms, ammunition, explosives, incendiary material and any other property that may be required by the military forces for the performance of this emergency mission, in accordance with the Rules of Force promulgated by the Virgin Islands National Guard and approved by the Virgin Islands Department of Justice.”

Irma was reported on Tuesday to be a Category 5 hurricane, with winds up to 175 miles her hour, and the eye is expected to pass just north of the heart of the islands on Wednesday.

The Daily Caller said Mapp signed the order Monday.

He warned, “This is not an opportunity to go outside and try to have fun with a hurricane.

“It’s not time to get on a surfboard,” he continued.

The gun seizure order technically also allows authorities to take control of “any other property.”

Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselo and Florida Gov. Rick Scott also declared states of emergencies in anticipation of Irma. But they did not include the gun confiscation authorization.

Mapp wrote that the order was issued under authority of Title 23, Chapter 19, Virgin Islands Code, and insisted it is necessary “to maintain the health, welfare, and safety of the people of the Virgin Islands.”

The adjutant general is given the right to “take whatever actions she considers necessary to carry out the assigned missions.”

The order provides for “payment for salaries, benefits, health insurance, worker’s compensation, necessary meals, fuel and other operational and administrative costs.”

But there was no mention of compensation to gun owners.

This ” Governor ” is obviously following the Rahm Emanuel rule concerning the use of a Crisis. Never let one ” Go to Waste “. I assume, as a U.S. territory, the citizens of the Virgin Islands are entitled to the same Constitutional Rights as those on the mainland. This fellow is without a doubt using the prospect of an impending natural disaster to nullify the rights of the people. An investigation should be launched immediately to determine the truth of this matter and if he has violated his duty to protect the rights of the people, he should be brought up on charges. Otherwise, these illegal acts will only increase in the future.

    • rhuland

The VI governor is an appointed political position and not an elected one. Who appointed this a$$hole? He should be summarily removed!

      • Patriot47

WRONG. He’s elected. Google it and read where he’s from and his history. New York Liberal.

        • Ken V

          Damn New York Jew..

      • Ken V

        Obama

    • Tricia Harris

Yep and look how great law and order is in Chicago! Highest murder and violence rate in the nation. This governor should be removed and sent to prison!

      • jim

        My point exactly !

      • Ron

you mean mayor Governor has little to do with Chicago which has / had one of the toughest gun controls in place yet it is one of the worst for it . So it proves that criminals do not follow gun laws or any laws guess that is why they are called criminals “what a concept”.

        • Tricia Harris

No. I said Governor and I meant Governor of the US Virgin Islands. Rahm Emmanuel is a rotten stupid liberal Mayor and the violence has only escalated in Chicago since he became mayor. That’s what happens when you elect vile, reprehensible liberals!

    • sweetone100percent

That’s not why they’re doing it. Many people think it ok to user their guns to loot other people’s property. They steal the funds from others, effectively increasing crime during times like this by removing the guns, temporarily, they limit the amt of crime. The guns, as long as they are obtained legally, are returned.

      • jim

This is typical liberal thinking , which is backwards . People have a right to protect themselves .

        • Fred_K

Not only do they have the right to protect themselves, but they are the only ones who can protect themselves in a crisis situation where the “police, et. al, are strained to their limit just rescuing people in distress. The government should GIVE THEM GUNS AND AMMO to protect themselves. Maybe even deputize them as well.

        • PissedoffVet

Spot on and that right did not come from the government it came from God and so being that until God said he needed it I would not give it up.

      • Ron

wow , what a fool would think that a person with a gun is going to be the looters . Let me clear this up a bit for you first a criminal should be arrested and then prosecuted and innocent should never be forced to give up there rights under any conditions . So how do the innocent defend against looters ? Before you say National Guard think about how long it will take for them to respond to a need . Average police response is 15 minutes in good weather so I bet it would take National Guard a day or three so how many looters will be killing because they are only ones armed ?

        • kep

When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

      • stopspending4

sweetie, have you not followed the loiting in Tx/??? The looters are being told in no uncertain terms that they will be SHOT if they loot. The problem with the “plan” to take guns away is that the law abiding citizens give up their guns – the criminals do not . Who in their right mind thinks criminals, who have already broken the law, are willingly going to turn over their guns just because someone says they should. The stated purpose is to arm the military/police. Yeh, we really want an armed military/police while the citizens are unarmed. That is exactly what our founders tried to prevent. Spin it any way you want – gun confiscation is a dream of the elite.

        • Ernest_T

True if the Guard and police are not already armed the Governor should be shot for not preparing them in advance.

      • Bollshat!

      • Tricia Harris

Sweetie, you are pretty darn naïve. You believe the officials would return the guns, then you are sadly mistaken, they will not. The criminals will continue to be armed and YOU will not – therefore you are allowing the government officials to disarm you and put you in danger. The criminals will never turn over their guns. Law abiding citizens DO NOT HAVE TO – the 2nd Amendment of our Constitution GUARANTEES the RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS! They have NO RIGHT TO TAKE OUR LEGAL WEAPONS AWAY! Criminals will always have weapons, and law abiding citizens are NOT THE REASON for the increase in crime, and law abiding citizens have the right to protect themselves.

        • Ron

          nicely said Tricia.

        • Doxie Chick

Thanks for your post, Tricia. You are so right, about the way things REALLY ARE: Criminals don’t give up their guns….so now, law-abiding citizens, who DO give up their guns, are unprotected from looters, during a crisis. I hope the law-abiding citizens KEEP their guns in this situation (!), and ignore the current gun-grab attempt in V.I.

        • Debra(bogene)

Amen !!!! Well said. You’ve got my vote. When are you running for office??

      • Emma

You are sadly mistaken. Criminals are criminals because they DON’T obey our laws.
Confiscation of weapons leaves law abiding citizens defenseless.
And NO… Their guns will NOT be returned. That is just another way to disarm citizens.

        • Ron

Emma. u r so correct. SOLUTION:.DO NOT VOLUNTARILY GIVE UP UR GUNS TO GOV’T AGENTS..under ANY circumstances.

          • PissedoffVet

The idea is to be prepared hide them till there gone then have them when needed. If you fight them you will die you can not fight military give them the stupid 22’s and bb guns keep the other hidden until they are gone.

        • Tricia Harris

Very well said and absolutely agree. It’s sad that the little sweetie is so brainwashed in liberal BS that she doesn’t understand the problem with confiscation of weapons of LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS and the danger it put us in when criminals will still have their weapons.

          • PissedoffVet

Most of all the snow flakes have no clue and sadly don’t really want to know.

          • Tricia Harris

Don’t you wish all these snowflake who have created the blizzard would just melt and go away? I sit next to one at work, so lives near me and 15 minutes from the office. This week he has started taking the bus – which takes 45 minutes to get here. So I asked why when it only takes 15 minutes to drive it, and he said there’s a gas shortage and it takes so much gas to drive the 9 miles every day. I said there is no gas shortage the refineries are opening so that doesn’t make sense. They are so loony!

          • PissedoffVet

So spot on Tricia and its so sad to think its the next generation that is going to make laws for us scary.

          • Tricia Harris

Thanks. The problem with the one who works here is that he’s got to be in his 60s! But then again if he’s been a liberal all his life, his brain has already atrophied and there is no hope.

          • PissedoffVet

You know for sure im 63 and I used to be soft back in the 60’s and 70’s then I learned the truth and changed and been there since. Such a shame. Have a good one Tricia and God Bless

          • Tricia Harris

I’m close to your age as well, but I am an old Air force brat and grew up on military bases. I have NEVER been liberal or sympathetic to liberals, and the older I get the less tolerant I am of these stupid morons!

          • Michael Thomas

Reality usually comes just too late for those who deny it.

          • PissedoffVet

Yea its kinda like God you deny all your life till your old and about to go then you say just in case forgive me I believe but so does the devil and all his demons but that didn’t get them into heaven now did it.

      • Ken V

        BS

      • PissedoffVet

        # 1 they did not return any from Katrina not one. And think of the cost of all of them and the cost of the people who needed them and did not have them and then died or watched there family die and no one protected them so what makes you think that it would happen the way you said IMPOSSIBLE its not how they work.

      • Ernest_T

RIGHT??? That is why citizens MUST be allowed to keep and bear arms to protect themselves and their property.

      • Jennie Russell

Really? That makes NO sense at all! Do you think the criminals are going to hand over their guns? The criminals and the goverment will be the only ones with guns. The goverment will be overwhelmed helping people and rescuing people to stop the criminals from looting, robbing, and killing unarmed good citizens. It is insane to remove guns from the citizens – why? There is no reason at all…except to take this opportunity to disarm the population. This is a death sentence to the good guys that need to protect their families.

  • CaptTurbo

Please pray for all of us who are in the path of this storm.

    • Ken V

      He can have the bullet

  • awaitingtherapture

The people that live there should have killed as many of the National Guard that were stupid enough to follow this order that they could and confiscated their weapons. I know for a fact, that is what would happen here if our out of control government ever tries such stupidity.

    • Tome

Is coming to a city near you faster than you can believe. We are going to be like England soon. They so far keeping covered by smoke so you do not see it happening! I will be dead. Out of my cold dead hands!

      • tCotUS

        Amen BROTHER

      • kassa1

As it has been set in the past, we all have to die so we may as well die for something.

      • Chained

When the next major false flag ops happens or the economy collapses martial law will.be declared and the satanic globalists will use the UN and whoever else to try to strip us of our weapons.

        • Volarekathy99

Yes, we have to watch out! There is no need for this governor to confiscate people’s guns because of an oncoming hurricane. How do you protect yourself against looters? He’s obviously a leftist who opposes the 2nd amendment. He is issuing an order to which he has no authority.

      • PissedoffVet

        →SPOT ON←

    • slk5

thank God virgin isle criminals follow the law, or when they start criminalizing, others wouldn’t have any protection!!!

    • tCotUS

      We will…

    • Ray

Really? Because they did it during Katrina and not one person has gotten them back yet.

      • awaitingtherapture

Yes, really. The fact that not one person has gotten their guns back from the illegal confiscation that happened during Katrina is a perfect example of why we should never give up our guns.

        • Ray

Never give up your guns. Make them take them by force. Some things are worth dying for

          • kassa1

Amen sir. I did not lay my life on the line for a bunch of communist to come in and disarm me so I may become a slave of the state.

          • Mark Are Reynolds Ⓥ

You are already a slave of the state. But at least an armed slave. And when you wake up to the fact you ARE a slave, then you will be a pissed off armed slave.

Freedom vs SLAVERY…what exactly IS freedom? Well freedom would be NOT having to pay “taxes” on what you create with your labor. That’s slavery. Freedom would be not having to pay “personal property tax” on your so called personal property for services you don’t WANT or have no use for, that’s slavery. Freedom is NOT having to pay “property taxes” (rent in “communist countries, which of course we aren’t) on your home every year for services you don’t want or have no desire to support. That’s slavery.

Freedom is being able to own whatever you want and use it any way you
desire as long as you don’t damage anyone else in their life, liberty or
property. Anything less is slavery. Freedom is being able to consume
whatever you want as long as you are not harming someone else. Anything
less is slavery. Freedom is not being forced to go to an indoctrination
center for 12 years of your life to be “taught” how to be a good slave.
Freedom is basically being able to do WHATEVER YOU WANT as long as you
don’t damage anyone else in their life, liberty or property. ANYTHING
LESS IS SLAVERY. Got it? Freedom is NOT Slavery and SLAVERY is NOT
            Freedom.

          • kassa1

What all you say is a given fact we all know that, but that is nice for someone who don’t understand that for what you have written. Yes for patriots what you have said they take for granted every day and we know that. For those who don’t know slavery they will, as they begin To take more of your money so that when you cannot afford your land or your house taxes they will take it from you like they do in the communist countries, it’s Cetera etc. etc.

        • I had not heard of that. Especially since FEMA was so delayed in entering the city. The mayor wouldn’t let them in until the situation was really dire and people died. Funny how the lamestream media never reported on something so big. mmmm.

          • PissedoffVet

That would be to much like right. When the government is wrong they cover and they cover unless they are caught red handed. So yea go figure I saw video of them do some really bad crap down there. Some of my military buddies were there and told me what they were ordered to do.

        • Volarekathy99

I was not aware that that had happened. Agree! The authorities to not have the right to rob us of our 2nd amendment rights. Then you just eventually end up with a Hitler and a holocaust, because if you say anything against the state, you are considered a terrorist.

    • kassa1

      Semper Fi

    • Chained

They did it during Katrina and then the fed enacted a law making it unlawful for any agency to confiscate legally owned firearms in an emergency.

      • Now that is good to know. Never should have happened, especially with the looting that went on after Katrina. I can see how the looters had the nerve in the first place.

        • Mark Are Reynolds Ⓥ

They didn’t want you shooting a looter, because their special.

      • PissedoffVet

But they seem to keep finding ways around it.

      • Honestly, when on earth do they think firearms FOR SELF DEFENSE are needed anyway? IN AN EMERGENCY! Duh, so how can you take someone’s firearms away at the very point they would need them most? What would be the point of having the right to bear arms? Especially since the right to bear arms was seen as a way of preventing a dictatorship. To protect citizens FROM THEIR GOVT. Another little “check” and balance.

        • Mark Are Reynolds Ⓥ

Too bad it’s taking us so long to realize this…

    • livefree1200cc

They did just that during Hurricane Katrina

      • PissedoffVet

And refused to give them back.

  • satcatchet

Wake up, this has nothing to do with hurricane Irma. This is nothing more than a gun grab and it is unconstitutional. How many people that surf carry a gun? This is so absurd.

    • oaking

They are not covered by the Constitution of the United State as they are a TERRITORY.

      • satcatchet

        I stand corrected,
        Thank you sir.

      • Tricia Harris

I believe they are covered by the Constitution. You might want to check up on our facts.

      • Just1Saddletramp

Alaska and Hawaii were covered by the Constitution before they were states

      • TIMedWork

According to those on the left, non-US-citizens, living in Yemen, are granted constitutional rights to come to the US, according to liberal federal judges. But no constitutional rights in the US Virgin Islands? Curiouser and curiouser.

        • Tricia Harris

Great analogy – and perfect way of getting it across.

        • Quisno Rodonovich

No citizen in the US has rights under a federal administrations court aka what just happened in las vegas.

      • Mark Are Reynolds Ⓥ

The Constitution doesn’t grant rights. It’s supposed to PROTECT them from usurpation. Your rights come from birth. The people of the Virgin Islands should SHOOT anyone who tries to enforce this between the eyes. That’s fighting for freedom. The colonists SHOT King George’s enforcers between the eyes. I see a repeat of history happening again….SOON.

        • Blair

Correct. Rights are not granted by government. Government can not have any power we do not give them first, and government’s first and foremost responsibility is to protect rights: more specifically life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.

          • tinkerunique

AS WORDED – “happiness” is NOT guaranteed. The “pursuit” of happiness is, as long as it does not break any laws

        • wdcraftr

I believe a worldwide revolution is coming, and that chaos will bring about a call for a national Sunday law in the name of peace and safety.. Of course the Pope is behind this law, and it is a repeat of the Dark Ages persecution, a healing of Rome’s deadly wound.. God put is here as a courtroom to decide the difference in God’s way of rule, vs Satan’s way of rule.. Satan’s accusations must be disproved in order to bring peace and harmony back to Heaven.. The courtroom drama is almost over, and the decision is to come shortly.. This trial was limited to 6000 years, so if you are thinking ahead to retirement, forget it.. Only a few more years are left I believe.. This Sunday law mandating worship on Sunday is at our door.. This Sunday law mandating Sunday worship will be the Mark of the Beast..God’s 4th commandment saying to worship the Creator on the seventh day Sabbath is God’s Mark/Seal.. The battle of Armageddon is over your eternal soul, it’s about “Who do you Worship”?
Yes it’s about Freedom here too, but Freedom of Worship… Govt. shall make no law respecting worship, and the free exercise thereof.. But of course they will.. God tells us so…

          • Al

            Jesus is coming.

          • Michael Thomas

The seventh day was Saturday. The Roman church changed it to Sunday. So in reality most Christians have broken that covenant at the behest of the church.

          • wdcraftr

Most Christians are not aware they are breaking the 4th commandment, for their church never tells them that.. I had to find it out on my own 2 1/2 years ago.. God winks at those who do not know they are doing wrong.. Most Catholics don;t know that confessing their sins to a mortal man is an abomination, but they never knew that..Jesus is the only mediator between God and man.. For those that love the Lord, and do the best they can, God does not condemn them.. But, when the Sunday law comes and Mandates Sunday worship, then all the world will learn the truth, and who you worship, God will hold you accountable for..

      • Ernest_T

Bull, they are more controlled. Territories have less power of self governance than do States.

      • Quisno Rodonovich

not really under the Northwest terrritories act the governor has powers that dont include the Constitution read section 4 Northwest terrritory act of 1787

      • Coastie407

Actually, as a territory of the United States, they are under the FULL AND COMPLETE protection of the Constitution, including 2A.

Now the question becomes whether A: the people acquiesce, and B: the VI-TAG decides to follow an illegal order.

In either event, very little of this will make the news, as the major event may end up being the destruction of South Florida through the impact of MH Irma…and that has me worried, as I live there.

Fellow bloggers and posters, please keep us in your prayers.

    • Yea, I stick a .357 down my bikini all the time when I go surfing. :-/ Unreal. This gov wants to be a dictator. No mention of ever giving the guns back. And what about the food and property she wants to confiscate? Someone needs to confiscate her head.

Another example of a female gun-hater playing a trick on lawful gun owners. This politician needs to be removed from office! What she is trying to do is just another gun-grab trick. And yes, when will the guns be returned to their lawful owners? This is like a governor confiscating all the automobiles. Lawful gun owners should sue this worthless politician and get her out of office.

        • ?? Excuse you? “female” gun hater? The biggest haters, obummer, killary, rahm emanual, etc etc. are MEN. As a woman, if someone broke into my house, especially a man, I’d rather meet him with the 12 gauge. Hate to mess up my house, but the intruder would be gone for good!

          • wjayr2000

The gun grabber is clearly a man or a women named Ken, but I like your take on Killery being a man, although not much of one.

        • tinkerunique

The easier way to remove an elected official is to have a “RECALL”, and have the people vote her out of office. Colorado state did that for 3 of their “elected elite” that went against the people. Two were voted out of office WITHOUT ‘benefits’ and a 3d “retired” before the election to keep her benefits and perks.

          • Debra(bogene)

And everyone could file ”A theft of property’ against her.’ I had to threaten to do that one time, back in “96. My pistol was stolen out of my car and i reported it stolen. About 2 weeks later, it was found on a guy that got pulled over and they took it in (and him.) Well someone called me from the station and told me they had recovered my pistol and a officer would bring it to me.I waited and waited (3 weeks) and finally i called them back and told them i was coming to get it. They said they would bring it to me that afternoon, but ask me if i had a license to carry it and did i have papers that i had legally bought it. I told them, ‘I sure do.’ So they finally brought it, that afternoon. Sometimes it takes awhile to get it back.

This is trial run to see if others are stupid enough to try taking away guns…..only an excuse to take away guns you are right has nothing whatsoever to do with hurricane..nor protecting people..

      • Debra(bogene)

Only the law abiding citizens will turn in their guns. Are the officials so stupid to think the thugs will turn their guns in?? Not!! And then the good people won’t have anything to protect their life with or their property with. How much more stupid can these people that are running our towns and cities and states GET??? Folks, vote or RECALL these (retarded nuts} people out of office. Do deep background checks on the next ones running for office. We have internet (at lest for right now), and you would be shocked on alot of these people’s backgrounds. Stay safe.

    • Harry MarthaM

Absolutely correct. Just an excuse to rope us into the corral where we have no rights.

    • omg, the surfing thing was a joke! Dude!

      We realize what’s going on.

We, the United States of America, are the ONLY country in the world whose Constitution has a 2nd amendment.

Our founders were incredibly brilliant, and knew that the first sign of a dictatorship is an unarmed populace. The 2nd amendment protects us against the GOVT. And many other things, as well.

No one in their right mind would ever give up that right. No one with even a rudimentary grasp on human history would give up their 2nd amendment rights.

Eloquent This! I meant to say the DipSh*t Mayor. Thanks for keeping up.

      • Jeff Chapman

That “Dipsh*t Mayor” (Ray Nagin) was re-elected in 2006 – after Katrina.
Karma didn’t catch up with him until 2014.
He was convicted on twenty charges of wire fraud, bribery, and money laundering for crimes committed both before and after Katrina.
He was sentenced to ten years in federal prison.

  • DeadToad

Liberals will try anything to accelerate their agenda. The National Guard has its own guns likely better performing then the Public’s guns. Really hiding your political agenda behind a hurricane is extremely low and likely pre-planned by the liberals. This is probably a Clinton idea use a natural disaster to Institute gun control.

  • ARJAY

How many will die at the hands of the roaming THUGS that didn’t turn in their firearms?!

What a POS this “governor” is!!

Will they get their firearms back after the crisis is over?!?!

    I really doubt it!!

    • Tome

Hey! You are Awake and Alive. You might have a chance to live! The only answer yet!

  • Ron

so much for the Constitution. But they have been trying to take guns guess this gives them an excuse. Now watch the criminals come out and loot they will also have there guns I bet.

  • ARJAY

It seems to me that the NOPD “LOST” the firearms (and/or the records) so they couldn’t return them to their LAWFUL OWNERS!

    • cabowabo78727

Sounds about right. No one has the authority to take someone else’s possessions if they are not accountable. Someone should check those officer’s homes and the homes of their friends. BTW, I lived in Louisiana for 7 years.

  • Bella Gray

This is BS. Frankly the minute someone tries to take your guns it’s time to let them have the bullets first.

  • Deborah Rhodes

How are people going to protect themselves when the looting or stealing begins? I do not agree with this confiscation!

    • ARJAY

The “governor” will PERSONALLY protect them!!

      Isn’t that his job?!

    • Michael Thomas

Looting before during and after is common on the islands. Unless you are native born, you are spit out of luck.

  • so the governor of a territory has the power to declare martial law-making him the equal of our president?

  • Susan Wood

Time for AG Sessions to have a talk w/the Governor and explain to him the 1st Amendment of the Constitution!!

    • ARJAY

Susan, I think you mean the 2nd Amendment. “[T]he right to keep and bear arms shall NOT BE INFRINGED”!! The 1st is about free speech and freedom OF religion, etc.!

      • Susan Wood

You are RIGHT! And I knew that! I’ve amended my comment. Thanks!

  • VirgoVince

If the storm is as bad as predicted, there won’t be any survivors
that haven’t evacuated! Where do these evacuees go for safety??
WHY are guns and ammo such a concern at this point??
Looters SHOULD BE SHOT, ANYWHERE they’re seen!!

    • Ron

because guns and ammo are our rights .If you want to give up your right so be it .
“Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” –Benjamin Franklin

  • kotoc

I would tell them, “Sure, you can have my bullets… one at a time… and if you still want them after receiving the bullets, you can have my guns… But you won’t be able to use them where you’re going next.”

  • Donald Lindsey

That is not America, they have no rights to defend themselves against anything, just slaves to a regime. send them the last bullet from the barrel

  • oaking

Since they are not a State, they are covered by congress, not the constitution. Them’s the breaks when you CHOOSE not to become a state.

That may be required` is not a gun grab statement, but rather it is a authorization to give the Authority’s a better edge to complete there mission which is to re-stabilize there areas of responsibility’s.

  • robertforrey

    The government is tyrannical!

  • John M

    Any excuse to confiscate guns.
I find it hard to believe that the gun “problem” was so visible on the radar that they declared this at what seems like the drop of a hat. AND no compensation?
At least Australian authorities were smart enough to lure the gun owners into disarming by throwing some money their way. Maybe there were too many to disarm? Who knows.

  • just care

Geez, you’d think they would want blankets, clean water, clean clothes, etc.
Guns? Now that is an unusual way to deal with a storm. Kind of makes you wonder, doesn’t it?
I could see it now here in Arizona. ( Heat wave approaching, National Guard coming for your guns ).
I think the headlines would actually read:
” Heat wave takes 120 lives, all from National Guard “

  • ECwashr

I would not try this in Texas!!!

  • ImOffendedTreatMeSpecial

Good luck, I hope they have plenty of body bags.

  • deerflyguy

Outrageous order! Trump needs to act now! No reason to confiscate guns! Try that in the CONUS and the revolution will be on!

  • James Edward Ray

So the citizens will be unarmed and all the bad guys will be able to rob the citizens because they won’t give up there guns!!! What a brain dead stupid Governor!!!

  • Ken V

Ten to one this A$$ hole is a democrat.

  • I_P_Frehley

    Is this a test run?

  • mathis1689

This fool sounds like a Kim Jong-Un wannabe. Hopefully the citizens will disabuse him of his warped delusions of grandeur.

  • kassa1

Or people who become disarmed become enslaved. Make no mistake it’s not about your safety it’s about the corruption in government safety and the pimps that they work for the globalist. The founding father said if you give up your guns for safety sake you will lose both in the end. Would you have people you’re looking at Tierney in your face.

  • Al Danzo

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that the U.S. Constitution applies to the territories. Therefore this
    confiscation is 100% UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

  • Dody Orth Gansel

when they take your guns….all the citizens become easy prey for the criminals who never give up their weapons….they have a field day with this gun confiscation…

  • Gary D Flatt

Neighbors need protect each other, form alliances include snipers on the perimeter. Radios are cheap at Walmart or Amazon.

  • Chance Gray

How absurd is it that the left is so delusional as to tell us That when you really do need to protect yourselves, your family and your property that we are confiscating your weapons in order for us to protect you better than you can protect yourselves???

  • faithhopelove123

Must be a democrat progressive socialist. No crimminals will obey this order, leaving non criminals defenseless. I think this will backfire on governor. Praying for the people in Irma’ s path!

  • Reb

Why don’t they confiscate surfboards too why they’re at it.

  • wdcraftr

Taking of guns only minimizes the threat of you being shot, but does nothing to keep you from being beaten, robbed, killed, or your property from being robbed, vandalized, burned, etc.. The confiscation of weapons only makes people helpless victims, and protects no one except maybe the Governor who has guns and body guards.. A gun is your defense against a 5 on 1 situation..

  • joe s

No right to take AWAY anyone’s guns or ammo in a U.S. territory or state, Gov.must be a democrap, has to be.

  • PissedoffVet

So did they shoot any citizens in the process of stealing the property of those who are left. If in the event that happened can the family go after her in a court of law. If I remember correctly when Katrina was here and they did that in New Orleans after the fact it was brought before congress and I thought they said it would not happen again. So once the Governor decides it you lose any rights you have in the name of common wealth and health of the community. Someone needs to educate these idiots we have running our country.

  • Clay Hamel

I’m just wondering how and why would any elected official even try to infringe upon our 2nd amendment … when it’s clear , SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED UPON !!!!!! They do it because nobody hold them accountable, it’s time to start holding them accountable and prosecute them for that or any law violated to weed out any and all unamerican politicians, especially for sedition against the USA bust them all. God bless America

    • PissedoffVet

      →Spot on←

  • Mort Leith

Yea, disarm all of the HONEST law abiding people so only the CRIMINALS will have guns….
    Real GENIUS !

  • Harry Pearson

This is simply an excuse to bypass the protections of the 2nd Amendment. There is NO safety issue with people keeping firearms in times of natural disasters, in fact, it can very definitely help law enforcement if it helps keep the gangs in line.

  • Ernest_T

This governor should be arrested and the order must be ignored! A storm is no excuse for Martial Law! Citizens must be allowed to bear arms for self defense.

  • porterv

Citizens are in more danger from government than from hurricanes. I hope these citizens have weapons cached.

  • Quisno Rodonovich

listen up people! Obama has a home there and he doesn’t want people to have unregistered guns because its been said that there are a few islanders who would put Obama’s head on a shiv. So please respect Obama’s missfortune of being a socialist scumbag

  • Fed up!

Hey Governor here my response to your gun grabbing BS 🖕🖕🖕would you personally try to get them.
You made a illegal order, Constitution 2nd only law I follow

  • minefinder624

did this up here in Alberta- large area flooded- police broke into homes (protecting against looting) took guns which were lawfully stored (gun cases/files) etc .all under the guise of protecting from looters- even though the police were onsite !

  • snow1

no gun rights……no money…….clean up your own mess after the hurricane. Don’t ask the U.S. for help.

illegal order , Any territory of the United States adopted the Constitution of the United States as the highest law of the land , It does not even qualify as pretended legislation considering the legislative body did not write this illegal order , I say fight !!

    • Laurence Almand

The Virgin Islands are a territory, not a state, so technically they do not have the right to vote, and the Constitution does not strictly apply to them. Same for Puerto Rico. Congress should pass a law stated that the US Constitution applies to commonwealths and territories as well as states. That would prevent such Socialist schemes as this gun-grab.

  • Patrick Dougherty

I Think some persons need to google the word “Unalienable ” right to bare arms, that means, This particular Law of the bill of rights cannot and will not ever be changed. No Matter who comes to the door, we don’t give up our weapons or ammo, unless it os in their hides as they leave my property.

  • MisterEd13

    NOT MY GUNS!!!!!

  • Laurence Almand

This gun-grab scheme is illegal and unconstitutional, and should be resisted by all legal gun owners! If anything, people NEED guns during disasters in order to protect themselves and their property from looters and other criminals. This “governor” should be removed from office for violating the law of the land, and playing this malicious trick.

  • Steve G.

I’m sure all the bad people are just going to voluntarily turn in their guns. Disarming citizens is going to protect them from luters . They will defend themselves with spit balls.

  • Louie Rey

What are the citizens supposed to do put a post-it note on each gun they own with their name on it so they’ll be given back to the proper owners? Better yet, WILL they be given back? This sounds fishy to me.

    • PissedoffVet

To date they haven’t given back any taken up during Katrina so fishy is right. So no reason to even think they would start now once they have them they will sit on them and they will end up lost or so they will say.

      • Louie Rey

Speaking of lost guns this reminds me of “Fast & Furious” which was just another in a very long line of Hussein’s disasters. It apparently didn’t matter to him that his DOJ wouldn’t be able to keep track of those guns but it certainly mattered to Border Patrol Officer Brian Kelly and his family. That’s just one example of Hussein having blood on his hands.

        • PissedoffVet

Yea why aren’t we seeing Eric the holder on trial yet? ☻

          • Louie Rey

            Very good question.

  • gatortom

I used to live in St Croix in the US Virgins . Cat 5 hurricane Hugo hit the island direct in 1989. US Marshalls had to be called in due to widespread looting. There was a pharmacy owner (who happened to be a white “continental” from the US) In the West End Town of Fredericksted. Due to previous break-ins even prior to the storm, he knew his pharmacy would again be a target.

For years it had been common knowledge that it was extremely difficult to get a gun permit, especially for “continentals”. Because of the cronic high crime rate, he, like many continentals, had elected to protect himself with a non-permitted pistol. When the hurricane hit, he stayed up all night in his pharmacy with his gun.

Sure enough, in the early morning hours, he heard the sound of someone breaking through the door. Seeing an armed “Rasta-man” type coming inside, he confronted him. Rather than halt as directed, the burglar raised his gun to shoot the owner. The owner then shot the thief dead. Knowing the corrupt VI Govt would prosecute him for murder, he was aware that he had to get off the island ASAP to escape a bogus prosecution. Due to past observations, It was well-known to him that he would never get a fair trial before the enevitable all-islander jury.

He was able to slip off the island by boat and was not apprehended. Unfortunately, he still suffered a devastating financial loss of his pharmacy, its’ stock and his personal items which had to be left behind. It is not at all surprising to me that yet another incompetent and corrupt VI Governor has flaunted our 2nd amendment rights!

    • Jimmy the Greek

How come he did not just get red of the body ?

  • Busdriver Bill

Question: Do the US Territories have our constitution as their supreme law-of-the-land, as do we (theoretically)? This “Governor-General” is truly “Off the Mapp,” with this ruling. But what’s a citizen to do to protect himself against a military presence and also in 150+ mph winds? His timing was perfect – too late for folks to sail away to safety. What’s in the wind, Donald? What will you do about this travesty? Better be firm and somewhat Draconian, to forestall other such insurgencies (that’s what it is, nothing less)! I also think an investigation of Mr. Mapp’s contacts and communications is in order. (Stinks highly of Raul, Fidel, and such types).

[I’ve been there – such nice folks – I have great pity for what they must have to endure.]

  • HDCycle

Be interesting to see how this all shakes out. I have seen this story but not really seen any reports of it actually happening. Down here in Florida anyone can concealed carry, permit or not, when forced to evacuate. It carries over to 48 hours after the emergency has been officially declared over. This is so that people fleeing and at their most Venerable can protect themselves and their families. Makes a lot more sense to me. Considering this governor of Virgin Islands is a New York yankee, not really surprised at his skewed vision of what make people safe. Pretty sure he will regret doing this when the dust all settles. Maybe he will move to Chicago where the strict gun laws keep everyone safe.

  • Jimmy the Greek

Only a jackass well give them up hide them they don’t have time to look for them !

  • Gregg Parker

He decided to seize guns under this vague statute:”The adjutant general is given the right to “take whatever actions she considers necessary to carry out the assigned missions.”… good thing he didn’t think putting a burlap bag over your head and spinning yourself dizzy until the storm passed was helpful…or perhaps mass suicide to prevent storm deaths… seizing guns somehow makes them safer… them or the criminals that come after the storm? Wonder if they’ll give them back after thing calm down?? ya think??

  • Mike Schneider

it’ll make it safer for the looters… which will be armed!

    • bill14729 .

  • Craig Vandertie

My advice to people whose primary place of residence is the conultiguous 48 they should put their Virgin islands Real estate up for sale and get out, I wonder how the tyrannical bureaucrats of the Virgin islands will appreciate losing all that money.

Time for the Trump administration to put the kibosh on that, cut them off, disregarding the articles of the Constitution is a crime.

    • Frank Gugino

I believe the residents of the Virgin Islands as Americans are covered by our constitution AKA the 2nd amendment!!!

      • Craig Vandertie

Yes Frank, but they are responsible for the actions of their politicians through electing them, I am saying those who are primary residents of a state who own property in the Virgin islands, besides are they not answerable to the president?, go in there and place them under arrest for violating the articles of the Constitution.

  • How’s that Second Amendment working out for you my fellow Christians and Patriots?

America was sold down the river when the 18th-century founding fathers replaced Biblical responsibilities with Enlightenment rights, and nothing demonstrates it better than the Second Amendment.

Think about it: The Amendment WITH the wording “shall not be infringed” is the MOST infringed, licensed, and limited Amendment of the entire twenty seven. Furthermore, a future generation of our posterity is likely to see the Second Amendment whittled away entirely or repealed altogether. This is inherent nature and danger of optional Enlightenment rights versus non-optional Biblical responsibilities, such as the following:

“Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword [or today’s equivalent in their hand; to execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; to bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; to execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye Yah.” (Psalm 149:6-9)

“But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house [including spiritual and physical protection], he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1 Timothy 5:8)

For more, listen to “The Second Amendment: A Knife in a Gunfight,” delivered at the Springfield, Missouri Firearms and Freedom Symposium, at http://www.bibleversusconstitution.com/#FeaturedMessages.

At this same location, you will also find a radio interview Larry Pratt (Executive Director of Gun Owners of America) conducted with me on this same subject. I think you’ll find Mr. Pratt’s remarks especiallyinteresting.

This article proves what gun registration leads to. First the government finds out where the guns are and then the government seizes the guns. I don’t trust the government. That’s why the Second Amendment is my permit.

….US Virgin Islands – when the government comes kill them

  • Larry Cowden

I would not be surprised if Tyrant Mapp failed to survive the hurricane. After all, anything can happen,(and should), to those such as him in times of natural disasters! Tyrants always have short lives to begin with due to their overwhelming popularity among the common people.

Where is the chicken sh-t attorney general in all this?

This was done during Hurricane Katrina under Bush and he had people shot ..Cops went from home to home not only confiscating guns but gang raping Pretty Women over and over again..They pistol whipped grandma’s …even our Military Confiscated fire arms all though they regret it now..They found out what the cops were doing as a Pretty red head had been gang raped by bad cops and sat on the curb by our Military rocking back and forth all bruised and beaten by the gang rape by bad cops..for 27 hours she rocked back and forth without eating or drinking anything..Now This governor wants Gun and Ammunition confiscation in the wake of IRMA..Take her out of the Picture the cops and Military had better stand down on this one u took a Oath to uphold the constitution and ur Oath comes before any unlawful order by some Gun grabbing Governor .!!!

  • Hawk

I dont care what happens or what laws get passed. Nobody wants to come try and take my guns. They will have to take them, because i damn sure will never just hand them over. They have more important things to worry about right now other than trying to take all the guns. They would be better off passing out food and water

  • mari

Emergencies are the time that we need to be armed. The police cannot protect you or your family when they are busy rescuing everyone at the same time.

  • Boomergirl

What does gun confiscation have to do with a hurricane? If I were there I would wrap up the guns and ammo in fleece and then in as heavy plastic as I have and bury them somewhere on high ground so they won’t end up in standing flood water. The governor’s order is illegal.

  • Charles Wolfe jr

Anyone there that gives up their guns is just plain STUPID !!!

So, exactly how many guns were seized? Will we ever know?
Don’t know if they have registration or not. If so, it wouldn’t be hard for them to do it.
Isn’t that always the real reason behind registration? Look at Kalifornia and New York.
It also happened in Cuba before Castro. That’s how he knew where the guns were.

  • MIKE6080

  • tinkerunique

Confiscation of firearms that the National Guard MIGHT need ? BS ! The ‘Guard’ has it’s own weapons AND ammo. If there is not enough food for the guard, that is the governors fault. The ‘Guard’ should have enough food and supplies for 90 days – 30 at the very least.

  • Sirromancealot

I have a great idea to all the people of the Virgin islands, tell the governor to f off and keep your guns. For God sake vote him out of office.
